Horrifying Video Shows Man Abusing Domestic Worker In Public
A horrifying video circulating on Twitter shows a man dragging a domestic worker through the streets while physically abusing her in the Metn town of Jouret el Ballout.
The disgusting acts prompted many to inquire about the criminal’s identity, resulting in the video going viral.
In response to the horrific events, the mokhtar of the area shared a Facebook status revealing that the domestic worker had “run away” the prior night, providing a medley of excuses as to why this abuse took place. He also denounced the “tainting” of Jouret el Ballout’s image.
It is 2022 and individuals are still subject to the disgusting Kafala system, one that is essentially modern-day slavery. Unfortunately, thousands of domestic workers have been denied the right to freedom of association and there are inadequate legal safeguards for migrant workers and some Lebanese laborers, leaving them vulnerable to abuse and exploitation.
