This morning, judge Ghada Aoun submitted the names of five CEOs of Lebanese banks to the General Security in order to place them on no-fly lists, preventing them from leaving the country.
The following CEOs are currently on the no-fly list:
Salim Sfeir – Bank of Beirut
Samir Hanna – Bank Audi
Raya Haffar – BankMed
Saad Azhari – BLOM Bank
Antoun Sehnaoui – SGBL
Banks and their owners have been subject to asset freezes since the beginning of the financial crisis, with Lebanon’s Central Bank governor Riad Salame also being under investigation. Still, sadly none of that has led to any actual accountability or justice.
