The murder of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini by what is referred to as Iran’s “morality police” for allegedly breaking the republic’s compulsory headscarf rules sparked widespread protests around the country.
Amini’s death led to public uproar over the Iranian regime, followed by multiple protests all over the world in solidarity with Iranian women. In Lebanon, a rally took place in Beirut’s Martyr Square in support of the ongoing protests led by powerful groups of women in Iran.

The women at the rally can be seen carrying images of Amini, as well as headscarves in their hands to show their support for the anti-regime movement that has for long been ostracizing women in the name of the state’s “moral obligations”.
