Meet The First Lebanese Woman To Ski To The South Pole!

You may have heard the name Tima Deryan back in 2019 when she became the first Lebanese woman and one of the youngest Arabs to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Deryan is back again with another historical achievement as she becomes the first Lebanese woman to ski to the South Pole.

Deryan shared a photo of herself proudly holding up the Lebanese flag upon completing the trip on Instagram. The photo is captioned, “Lebanon’s flag will continue to rise around the world, because Lebanese and Arab women can, because women will continue breaking barriers to progress everyday towards a gender balanced world.”

The mountaineer also recently completed her trip to the highest mountains of each of the seven continents, a voyage known as the Seven Summits. Joyce Azzam and Maxime Chaya are other amazing Lebanese who successfully completed the Seven Summits and reached the South Pole on foot.

Congratulations to Tima!
