Saturday, Sep 22, 2012
9:00am -> 5:00pm
Ramada Beirut Downtown

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based therapy that integrates acceptance, mindfulness, values, and behavioral activation in order to build psychological flexibility.

Applied to multiple problems and diagnoses, ACT focuses on helping clients accept their feelings, accompanying bodily sensations, worrisome thoughts and other internal struggles that are barriers to healthy living while also re-orienting clients to values-based behavior that is instantiated by making and keeping commitments and creating ever larger patterns of behavioral change. The ultimate goal is psychological and behavioral flexibility in the service of a more fulfilling and workable life.

This workshop will focus on describing the ACT Model and exploring the interface between acceptance/mindfulness and values work in ACT. Interventions will be practiced in the workshop that can be used in a full ACT protocol or can be interwoven into many other therapeutic models and clinical settings. Participants will experience shifting from typical conversations to transformational conversations.
