Masrah Ensemble

Masrah Ensemble is a nonprofit organization that makes, develops and fosters research and criticism of theater with a focus on the Arab stage. Based in Beirut, Lebanon, the Ensemble aims to reconfigure audiences and to encourage transcendent, riveting theater.

Since 2009, programs have included a bi-monthly platform for impromptu and rehearsed performance (“Theatre of Desire Cabaret”), staged readings of new plays, open conversations with emerging playwrights, translation of contemporary dramatic literature from Arabic to English, and the Arabic-English book and theatre series, Doomed by Hope.

Masrah is partnered with the Prince Claus Fund, Young Arab Theatre Fund, American University of Beirut, Babel Theatre, Pluto Press and 98Weeks.
