The LOO was founded upon the suggestion of the conservatory president in spring 2000 where its first concert was on July 28, 2000 at UNESCO palace.

Dr. Walid Gholmieh, the president of the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music, is the principal conductor and founder of the orchestra. Mr. Antoine Farah, professor of oriental Arabic theory, solfeggio, as well as an oriental cellist, is assistant conductor of the orchestra.

Since its establishment and in addition to many regular concerts in Lebanon, the orchestra has presented many concerts in international festivals such as Al Bustan international festival, and the international music festival ADMAF in Abu Dhabi and others.

The orchestra is characterized by musical discipline and professional academic musical conduct which reflected a great respect and evaluation of the new presentation of the traditional Oriental Arabic Music as well as folklore music.

The orchestra is composed of 50 musicians.
