I & I = Us Exhibition at Beirut Exhibition Center

Beirut Exhibition Center is hosting an exhibition by Ana Corbero called “I & I= Us”. Corbero’s exhibition is more than a statement of resilience, one of the qualities that connect her with Lebanon; it is a gentle but timely reminder that, under these skies and in spite of everything, indoctrination and barbarity are the perennial losers.

Corbero’s work is permeated by her awareness of pre-modern roots, eons before modern borders and sectarian lines.

The Mare Nostrum – or White Sea of the Arabs – the small cedar, the upturned ‘sajs’, the central blood-red vessel, the golden heads, are not only a link, but also a timeless inspiration for a future as open and as shared as the horizon on the sea. In this world, identity is togetherness. And she helps us realize that this is also true of us, God’s dust. Corbero’s poems, paintings and sculptures remind us, softly but crystal clearly: consciousness is the solution.
