‘Girl Rising’ Screening at the Lebanese American Universtiy

The Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World and the Center for Lebanese Heritage at the Lebanese American University are hosting a screening of the film “Girl Rising” to celebrate the International Day of the Girl. A discussion in Arabic will follow the viewing.

Synopsis:
The movie tells the stories of nine girls from different parts of the world who face arranged marriages, child slavery, and other heartbreaking injustices. Despite these obstacles, these brave girls offer hope and inspiration. By getting an education, they’re able to break barriers and create change. Each girl’s story was written by a renowned writer from her native country.
