A Creative Approach to Making Clothing with Caroline Simonelli

Thursday, Jun 12, 2014
9:00am -> 4:00pm
Beirut Design Week 2014

Lebanese American University (LAU)

Caroline Simonelli will lend her expertise in a five-hour workshop that will introduce students to the creative process in making spiral bias dresses through free hand draping. Caroline’s great experience in the fashion industry will add a fresh perspective and her background in teaching at the top fashion schools in the world will inspire. The students will be provided with high quality fabric from Donna Karan, donated by the Creative Space Beirut. The participants will explore spiral draping, rouching, and fluting, or a combination of all. They will be able to leave the workshop with an almost finished garment. Some skills in hand sewing are encouraged but not required. Participants must bring with them: needle scissors and two types of pins: the ones with the heads and safety pins. This workshop is in collaboration with the fashion design program at LAU and The Creative Space Beirut.
