Silke Schmickl is the director and co-founder of Lowave. A leading editor in experimental cinema and video art for the past 10 years, Lowave has grown to constitute a curatorial platform of research in the field of moving images.

Body Politics is a program consisting of a series of art films from the Middle East, North Africa, South and Southeast Asia that explores how contemporary artists comment on current political and social issues by means of their own bodies or those of others.
