Artists are asked to deliver to MACAM one wood sculpture created in the last two years (from July 2012 on). Its height should be over thirty centimeters. Participation fee: $20. The best three works chosen by a jury will win prizes and be featured in the MACAM newsletter, on its Facebook page and website.
The Aim
– To foster creativity and feature an aspect of a popular art in Lebanon
– To honor Youssef Basbous in a retrospective exhibition of his wood sculptures
– To join International Wood Culture Society in its 2014 World Wood Day Culture Tour
The Prizes
Three artists will be recognized as winners:
– First Prize – $3,000
– Second Prize – $2,000
– Third prize – $1,000
Timetable
Saturday, October 18: Deadline for registering in the competition at MACAM in Alita or at RectoVerso in Beirut.
Saturday, November 1: Deadline for the delivery of the wood artworks to MACAM in Alita or at RectoVerso in Beirut.
Saturday, November 15: Opening of Youssef Basbous’ wood exhibition with an exhibition of the contestants’ work and an award ceremony.
