The Bald & The Beautiful (With DJs Ziad Nawfal & Serge Yared) at Radio Beirut

Ziad Nawfal’s monthly residency at Radio Beirut continues, as he teams up with DJ & musician Serge Yared. On the musical menu for the evening: soul, funk & alternative disco.

Serge Yared has developed a cult following among Beirut city’s alternative-minded party crowd, for his DJ sets that encompass, among other things, dirty blues sung by dirtier sexagenariens, ’60s french pop, classical slows for lovers and hand-clappin’ melodies.

The frontman of local psychedelic-pop/alternative-folk band The Incompetents, Serge Yared’s crazed musings are not limited to the band’s lyrics, his music selection is an expression in itself. A long-time DJ on the scene, Serge Yared’s sets are eccentric, soulful and delve deep into the past for solid dancers with that tongue-in-cheek edge.

Ziad Nawfal is the founder of the ground-breaking Beirut-based independent label – Ruptured. He has spent the better part of the last 20 years exposing Lebanon and the world to the special local and regional independent music talent on his long-running radio show – Ruptures, on Radio Liban 96.2 FM.

He started spinning music in local Beiruti bars at the tender age of 18, and has played in the capital’s most renowned venues, from Babylone and Zinc in the 1990’s, to Club Social and The Basement in the 2000’s. He is currently a resident DJ at Radio Beirut and Lux Restaurant.
