‘Beirut Down and Dirty’ Radio Show Talks Vinyl at Radio Beirut

There’s a new radio show in town, hosted by Tara Jane. Beirut Down & Dirty is all about the latest awesome happenings in the city, interviews with upcoming artists and the veterans of the local music scene, cultural figures and topical discussions. It’s also a platform for rants and raves on the city we love to love and love to hate. She’ll cover controversial topics, taboos, just about anything. There sure ain’t no filter here.

This week Beirut Down and Dirty talks vinyl. She’ll host two of the leading DJs and vinyl-lovers of the Beirut nightlife scene. Ceasar K, DJ and producer behind Vibe Lebanon Records will be in the studio to tell us why he was mad enough to start a record label in Lebanon. And he’ll give insight onto a scene he’s been DJing within since those early days. She’ll also host DJ Spindle (aka Ernesto Chahoud), a veteran DJ who founded the Beirut Groove Collective – celebrating their five year anniversary this Saturday at White Beach. He’s got probably the biggest funk-soul 45 record collection in the Arab world, and is a vinyl-purist if ever there was one. Also on the show is special guest German funk 45 legend, DJ Florian Keller who came to spin in Beirut for the first time ten years ago. He’ll give his outsider perspective on how the scene has changed.
