Good Bye Schlöndorff: A Sound-Image Performance by Waël Kodeih

Within the framework of the first German Film Week organized by Goethe-Institut in partnership with the Metropolis Association, they would like to present: Good Bye Schlöndorff, Audio Letters and Correspondence from a Faked War. The performance is by Waël Kodeih (“Rayess Bek”), with Yann Pittard.

‘’Good Bye Schlöndorff” is a 50-minute audiovisual performance which combines intimate letters, unidentified sounds discovered on the audio tapes and musical compositions with short sequences from the film “Circle of Deceit” and its “Making of”. The viewer watches a journey through the universe of the 80’s in Lebanon. That is how reality which is represented by the intimate letters merges with Schlöndorff’s fiction. Each and every word and image is thus carefully uprooted from its original context and transplanted into the musicians’ imagination. We are watching here a sound and visual surgical procedure in which Wael Kodeih (at the machines), and Yann Pittard (at Oud) keeps deconstructing and reconstructing each and every moment of that terrible time.
