Sari Hanafi is a Professor of Sociology at the American University of Beirut and editor of Idafat: the Arab Journal of Sociology (Arabic). He is the Vice President of the International Sociological Association (ISA). His forthcoming book is Arab research and knowledge society: the impossible promise? (with Rigas Arvanitis).
