The mental health care and suicide prevention NGO
Embrace recently released statistics revealing that Lebanon witnessed 145 registered deaths as a result of suicide in 2021. Embrace also shared that 39% were between 12 and 27 years of age.
These numbers reveal the need for mental health access and intervention, especially amid such troubling times, as the population is subjected to constant psychological stressors. “Lebanon is losing some of its youngest to preventable deaths such as suicide. These losses reflect the psychological stressors that adolescents and young people in Lebanon are experiencing and the need for mental health interventions to prevent the deterioration of our youth’s mental health,” said Embrace in their post.
Embrace’s National Lifeline for Emotional Support and Suicide Prevention (1564) now operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Make sure to share this number. You might save a life.
