This village on the Damour River between Beiteddine and Souk el-Gharb is definitely worth a visit. Here, local craftsmen make pottery during the summer months, but any time of year it is an interesting place to explore.
Jisr el-Qadi takes its name from the bridge (jisr) built in Mamluke times over the Damour River by Emir Zayn ad-Dine at-Tannoukhi. The Emir was also a judge (qadi) of Ain Ksour, north of Abey. In 1886 Wassa Pasha, the Ottoman governor of Mount Lebanon, (1883-1892) widened the narrow bridge by building a second bridge beside it.
This will be an easy-level hike by the beautiful banks of the Damour river, followed by a guided meditation by qualified Art of Living instructors. No meditation experience required. This event is open to everyone. You will finish with a delicious vegetarian potluck brunch.
