Creative Space

This course involves draping techniques with an emphasis on soft silhouettes, bias draping, and structure in design. Introduction of the dolman sleeve, cowls, pants, and cut and sew knits are includes in various styles to expand students’ critical thinking and technical skills. Students explore various aspects of design through the draping of fabric.

About the Instructor
Caroline Shlala-Simonelli is a Lebanese/American designer who teaches fashion design at Parsons the New School for Design in New York. Before teaching, Caroline had a long career as a fashion designer in women’s dress apparel. Along with her own line of volume and couture collection, Large Sizes for Q V C , Bloomingdales and Saks fifth avenue, she was also Head Dress Designer at Liz Claiborne and Head Collection Designer at Mollie Parnis New York. Caroline travels from New York to Beirut twice a year to lend her expertise and experience to Creative Space Beirut.

This course will be given in two sessions, each with three classes. Students are welcome to register for either or both sessions.

– Session 2: July 7, 9 and 14
