Arman’s Artworks at Mark Hachem Gallery

Mark Hachem Gallery is proud to exhibit a selection of Arman’s artworks. Since its inception in 1996, the gallery has built a collection of artworks including sculptures and paintings from the famous French artist. From museums to public places to private collections, Arman’s pieces are collected around the world, such as “Espoir de Paix” built in 1995 in Beirut.

Playing with the destruction of useful objects for his series “Accumulations”, Arman criticizes the modern consumerist society. As such he produced pieces where the functional aspect of the object no longer matters, using different materials such as broken china, drugs tubes, alarm clocks and violins. Those violins are also found in his painting as he makes them dance on the canvas.

The exhibition will present a selection of unique pieces as well as series of originals in limited numbers created by Arman from the 1960s to the 1980s. The collection testifies the huge production of the artist across different phases and styles of his productive years.

About the Artist
Arman is most recognized for his contribution to the Nouveau Realisme movement, which represented France’s response to American Pop Art in the 1960’s.
