Baalbeck International Festival 2015

The Baalbeck Temples

For its 2015 opening night, the Baalbeck International Festival presents a grand spectacle dedicated to the place of its inspiration: Baalbeck.

The festival called upon a selection of renowned and discerning Lebanese composers, writers, musicians, and artists, all of whom have proudly represented their country abroad, and asked them each to create a brief artistic tribute to Baalbeck, in the tone, mood and mode of expression that spoke to them most. This anthology of works will finally come together as one at the Baalbeck Acropolis. In a fantastical framework of vocals, music, text, body and images, the specially-composed scores will be interpreted by the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra and a diverse group of exceptional Lebanese artists.

Musical works: Abdel Rahman El Bacha, Naji Hakim, Marcel Khalifé, Béchara El Khoury, Ibrahim Maalouf, Zad Moultaka, Ghadi Rahbani and Gabriel Yared.

Original texts: Etel Adnan, Adonis, Talal Haydar, Issa Makhlouf, Wajdi Mouawad, Ghadi Rahbani and Salah Stétié.

Interpretation: The Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Harout Fazlian, Fadia Tomb El-Hage and Rafic Ali Ahmad.

Dance: Nacim Battou and Al Majed troup led by Khaled Naboush (Dabkeh).
