Karkhana
Combining some of the most innovative players from Beirut, Cairo and Istanbul, Karkhana met in Beirut for the first time in February 2014. They recorded both live and in studio for Italian vinyl label Sagittarius. This time they meet in Beirut again, albeit with a variation on their last line up, to share their blend of free jazz and psychedelic with various shades and traces of shaabi, tarab and much more.

Rhys Chatham
Rhys Chatham is a composer/performer from NY currently living in Paris. Having played in the groups of Tony Conrad and La Monte Young during the early seventies, his current projects include his orchestras of 100-200 electric guitars as well as his smaller Guitar Trio configuration. He plays trumpet, flutes and electric guitar going through a battery of delays in solo contexts as well as with other musicians including Charlemagne Palestine, z’ev, Le sacre bleu, and French improvisors Jean-François Pauvros and Jean-Marc Montera.

In Beirut he will present his mesmerizing solo show, involving an electric guitar tuned in just intonation, alto, bass and C flutes, and trumpet, all going through a highly idiosyncratic and distinctive looping setup. www.rhyschatham.net
