Saida Protestors Close Down Exchange Shops

Earlier today in Saida, a number of protestors made their way to Riad El Solh Street and closed down several exchange shops in protest of the inflated exchange rates.

Although Lebanese banks have settled on a fixed rate of $1 = 1,515 L.L. (approximately), the “black market”, which entails exchange shops, is trading for much more. According to the protestors, this is believed to be worsening the economic situation and exhausting the Lebanese lira.

Upon closing the exchange shops, protestors put up signs on the doors that read: “Dollar exchange rate = 1515 L.L”.

Great move, Saida!
