9 Spooky Abandoned Places To Visit Around Lebanon

There’s always something striking about abandoned places. Who DOESN’T want to visit a creepy old building that might be haunted by a ghost?



But beneath all this dust there are unheard stories associated with these places. So grab a friend and go on an adventure!


1. Ain Sofar Train Station

Sofar holds an amazing amount of history. The train station, dating back to the 1960s, was taken by travelers coming from Beirut to visit the Grand Sofar Hotel, famous for its notorious casinos and nightclubs.


2. Bhamdoun’s Abandoned Synagogue



Known as “The Last Temple”, this place of worship belonged to the Lebanese Jewish Community and was built in the early 20th century.


3. Qasr Bechara el Khoury – Beirut



An abandoned palace situated Zokak el-Blat. According to a source, the palace has been abandoned for a long time and is now occupied by a carpenter who claims to pay rent to the Municipality.


4. Grand Hotel Kassouf, Dhour El Choueir



A beautiful hotel that was built in the 1930s and damaged by the war. With plans to renovate the hotel, the place still stands as one of the biggest abandoned hotels in the country.


5. Hotel Amrieh, Bikfaya



Another hotel that will give you the creeps. This place dates back to the 1960s and is famous for its theatre and indoor cinema.


6. Takeddin el-Solh’s Mansion



Scattered around Zoqaq el Blat, is the home of former Prime Minister Takeddin el-Solh this estate is located in the middle of Hamra and is dismissed by pedestrians as just another old, junkyard.


7. The Abandoned Aquarium, Batroun



Dominating Batroun’s skyline, this place was originally intended to be an aquarium but was stalled by the civil war.


8. Rachid Karami International, Tripoli



Although not technically abandoned, this place was rumored to be used as storage space for weapons and artillery during the war.


9. McMagic Amusement Park, Nahr El Kalb



This iconic kids park closed in the 90s but all games remain until today.
