Douma Named One Of The Best Tourism Villages In The World

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) just announced the Best Tourism Villages 2023, and our beloved Douma made it to the list.

UNWTO annually releases a list of the best tourism villages from all over the world based on nine key criteria, recognizing “villages that are leading in nurturing rural areas and preserving landscapes, cultural diversity, local values, and culinary traditions”.

Douma was named among 55 villages from all over the world for meeting all of the following criteria set by the UNWTO:

• Cultural and Natural Resources
• Promotion and Conservation of Cultural Resources
• Economic Sustainability
• Social Sustainability
• Environmental Sustainability
• Tourism Development and Value Chain Integration
• Governance and Prioritization of Tourism
• Infrastructure and Connectivity
• Health, Safety, and Security

Known for its stunning natural beauty, historic charm, and cultural richness, Douma is one of the most remarkable destinations in Lebanon, located in the Batroun district.
