AMANI: The Century-Old Heritage Villa Everyone’s Dreaming About in Lebanon

The story behind the estate
What makes AMANI special is the story behind it. The villa was built by Dr. Adib Basbous (1873–1950), a philosopher, diplomat, educator, and polyglot who studied in Paris. He appreciated art, architecture, and craftsmanship—a love reflected throughout the property.
After visiting the 1900 Paris World’s Fair, Basbous returned to Batroun with one of the area’s earliest cameras. He documented everyday village life through photographs. Perched on a 30,000-square-meter estate overlooking Batroun, AMANI is surrounded by some of North Lebanon’s most beautiful scenery. From the property, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of the ancient Smar Jbeil citadel, rolling valleys, and the Mediterranean Sea.

The property also features a beautifully restored ancient stone vault tucked away in the lower garden. Set beside the swimming pool and surrounded by lush greenery, it now serves as a private bedroom suite, offering guests a peaceful retreat immersed in nature.
