Dbayeh’s Public Beach Is Open Again! Here’s Everything You Should Know

For the first time in years, Dbayeh Public Beach is open to the public again, giving Metn residents an easier way to spend a day by the sea without the long drive north.

The beach has reopened as a free public space where visitors can relax by the water in a family-friendly setting. The municipality has carried out maintenance work across the site, while service and security kiosks have also been set up.

Revenue generated from these kiosks will go toward the beach’s upkeep, with the municipality overseeing maintenance and daily operations.

The reopening is part of the municipality’s broader plan to restore Dbayeh Beach and return it to the community as an accessible public destination for residents and visitors alike.

Is the water safe for swimming?

Following questions from the public, the Dbayeh, Zouk El Khrab, Awkar, and Haret El Ballaneh Municipality issued a statement addressing the beach’s water quality.

According to the municipality, maintenance work has been completed, and the area’s sewer line has been relocated around 400 meters away to help reduce pollution. It also said that regular seawater testing is being carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities, with results showing a gradual improvement in water quality.

The municipality added that it will continue monitoring the situation and take any necessary measures to protect public health and the environment.

Beach rules

Visitors are asked to follow a few simple rules while using the beach:

– Respect other visitors and avoid excessive noise.

– Do not damage the marine environment or leave waste behind.

– Pets are not allowed.

– Help keep public facilities clean and in good condition.

While there’s still work to be done, the reopening marks an important first step for one of Lebanon’s best-known public beaches.

Once a popular destination for families and beachgoers, Dbayeh Beach gradually declined due to years of pollution and neglect.

If restoration efforts, environmental monitoring, and regular maintenance continue, there’s hope the beach can once again become one of Lebanon’s top public seaside destinations.
