Beijing Opera Comes to Beirut With a Free 6-Day Workshop!

Le Monnot Theater, in collaboration with the Confucius Institute, is hosting a free Beijing Opera workshop in Beirut this month. The program highlights a rare cultural and artistic exchange between Lebanon and China, offering the public a chance to explore one of the oldest performance arts in the world.

Over six days, six specialized instructors will lead daily online sessions streamed directly from Beijing. Each class runs for two hours and focuses on performance, movement, vocal expression, and the intricate traditional codes of Peking Opera.

The workshop is open to everyone (yes, it’s free!) and requires no prior experience.

Sessions will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at two venues:

  • Le Monnot Theater on January 18, 22, and 23, 2026
  • Le Labyrinthe (Gergi Zeidan) on January 19, 20, and 21, 2026

Instruction will be in Chinese with consecutive English translation, making the experience accessible to a wider audience.
