Beirut’s Beloved Hani’s Snack Reopens After April 8 Massacre

After temporarily shutting its Raouché branch following the devastating airstrikes that hit Beirut on April 8, Hani’s Snack has officially reopened its doors. The beloved snack announced the closure after enemy forces launched over a hundred airstrikes in ten minutes across Beirut’s neighborhoods, the Bekaa Valley, and the south. The result was a massacre that took more than 350 lives and caused widespread destruction.

Nearly two months later, the branch is back in business, with Hani’s sharing the news of its reopening earlier this week.

For many locals, Hani’s is more than just a place to grab a quick bite. Since 1972, the homegrown snack chain has built a loyal following thanks to its old-school Lebanese-style burgers, generous portions, and no-frills atmosphere.

It’s the kind of place people associate with ketchup-loaded burgers, coleslaw, late-night cravings, and memories that stretch back decades. Long before gourmet burger concepts became the norm, Hani’s was already serving the comfort food many Beirutis grew up with.

With branches in Hamra and Raouché, the restaurant has remained a fixture in the city’s fast-food scene for more than 50 years. And now, one of Beirut’s most nostalgic snack spots is welcoming customers back once again.

It’s important that we continue supporting local businesses during such difficult times, especially long-running Beirut favorites. What’s your go-to at Hani’s Snack?
