Fueling Lebanon’s growth for years to come: Total Liban and IPT opt for a strategic logistics and supply partnership

Beirut, April 25, 2019 – It is no secret that success is propelled by people and their dedication to operating responsibly, applying innovative technologies, performing with excellence, and capturing new opportunities for profitable growth.

A perfect mix that has inspired the recent creation of a 50-50 ownership company by Total Liban and IPT, under the name of “Fuel Logistics Co. SAL”, stemming from their ongoing partnership and a conviction rooted in action, not only words.

This new structure was officialized under the patronage of HE Mrs. Nada Boustani Khoury, Minister of Energy and Water, represented by her Advisor Mr. Dany Samaha, during a ceremony held at Villa Linda Sursock – Ashrafieh, which gathered a number of personalities, including MP Ziad Hawat, representing Dr. Samir Geagea, Leader of the Lebanese Forces Party; Ambassador Vazken Kavlakian, representing Minister Gebran Bassil; MP Roula Tabch Jaroudi; Former Minister Ramzi Jreij; Mrs. Aurore Feghali, General Director of the Oil Directorate at the Ministry of Energy and Water; in addition to Mr. Daniel Alvarez, Managing Director of Total Liban; Dr. Toni Issa, Vice-Chairman of IPT Group; and Mr. Antoine Salame, General Director of Fuel Logistics Co. SAL.

Specialized in the provision of logistics services and the supply of petroleum products, this exciting venture is uniquely and powerfully positioned to enhance the quality and service of the local fuel supply market, and primed to make a significant contribution to the oil and gas sector in Lebanon.

This dynamic synergy seeks to further improve the specifications of imported petroleum products, besides the HSEQ measures in oil storage terminals and the logistics components of the petroleum supply chain.

“Total Liban is relentlessly committed to providing the highest service quality to our customers. By working in concert with IPT, we will strengthen our service delivery all the more through an optimized supply chain network”, said Mr. Daniel Alvarez, Managing Director of Total Liban.

Mr. Alvarez also delivered a speech on behalf of Mr. Jean Papee, Vice-President, Middle East & East Asia, Marketing & Services Asia-Pacific – Middle East, currently in Saudi Arabia to sign an agreement with Saudi Aramco: “Total is glad about this partnership. Many good things will come out of it”.

A consolidated affiliate of a leading international oil and gas company, Total Liban deploys a network of over 190 service stations and boasts a varied portfolio of professional clients. Total Liban aligns its supply and distribution chain with its quality, safety and environment strategy, and is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified. Putting customer satisfaction at the core of its business, Total Liban has been striving, ever since 1951, to apply the know-how and expertise acquired by the Group across the five continents.

The establishment of “Fuel Logistics Co. SAL” comes as the culmination of many years of cooperation between Total Liban and IPT. Growing demand and increasingly complex operating environments are making the delivery of reliable, affordable energy one of the biggest challenges of today. In a world that is becoming more connected than ever before, sustainable development is no longer an option but an imperative, and collaborative thinking between different organizations more important than ever.

Dr. Toni Issa, Vice-Chairman and CEO of IPT Group stated: “IPT has achieved remarkable growth in the Lebanese market over the past years and is very proud to join forces with a major energy player, such as Total, to bring added value to our customers, our country, and our organizations”. He emphasized that “the similarities in strategy and responsible business practices between Total Liban and IPT have been a key contributing factor in this new venture”. Good chemistry often leads to innovative ideas…

IPT has been in the oil and gas business for over 30 years. It succeeded to achieve an advanced market position in Lebanon with a network of more than 180 gas stations across the country, delivering excellent customer service around the clock. Growing into a responsible business, IPT adopts safe and incident-free operations and puts sustainability at the core of its business practices to efficiently manage its impact on the society and environment.
Mr. Antoine Salame, General Director of Fuel Logistics Co. SAL., outlined the company’s goals and objectives, insisting upon “the application of international standards in terms of health, safety and environment, including sea and land transport, warehouse equipment and fire protection”.

The ceremony ended with a promotional video and a cocktail reception in the Villa’s Garden.
It is only through accountable leadership that the economic benefits of the energy supplied can flow to all stakeholders. Guided by this vision and these values, “Fuel Logistics Co. SAL” will rely on global resources, determination and ingenuity to boldly meet the needs of customers and communities alike.

Through their strategic alliance, Total Liban and IPT will strive to deliver on their goal of being a partner of choice, and pledge to help build a more sustainable future for Lebanon – a future in which all of us can be proud.
