UNESCWA Reports 74% Of Lebanese Population In Poverty

A new report issued by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia revealed that around 74% of the total population is delving into poverty.

The alarming report shows a major increase in poverty in the crisis-hit nation. UNESCWA also warns that if access to health, education, and public utilities were considered, the rate would increase to 82% of the total population living in multidimensional poverty.

As the crisis deepens, all segments of society and different population groups are being affected similarly by the unprecedented socioeconomic situation in Lebanon. With an ongoing fuel crisis, extreme shortage in medication, little to no access to proper healthcare, and a struggling educational sector, the future of the nation remains unclear.
