Burning by Jean Boghossian

Solidere are organizing an exhibition honoring artist Jean Boghossian entitled “Burning”.

The exhibition will include paintings reflecting the artist’s recent work carried out on paper and cloth, all carrying signs with varying degrees of fire. The artist uses a special technique, covering the burn marks with colors resulting in the appearance of holes, or direct burn marks.

Jean Boghossian was born in the city of Aleppo on March 3rd, 1949. He went on to go to school in Jounieh, and continued his university studies in economics at the University of Saint Joseph in Beirut and social science at the French Institute of the Arts in Beirut.

Boghossian has worked since 1970 as a trader of gems and a jewelry designer. He established in 1992 with his father Robert and his brother Albert a foundation in Brussels that went on to become a blooming art center and cultural dialogue are between the east and the west.

Boghossian has been drawing since 1988. He organized exhibitions in Brussels during the years 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. He also participated in group exhibitions in 2008 and 2009.

Special Formula:The Opening of the exhibition will be on Wednesday Aug 10 at 6pm.

A round-table discussion about the theme of “Fire in Works of Art” will be held on Thursday August 11, featuring readings by Roger Birotzy , guy Lodon, and Jean Boghossian.
