‘Layers of Memories’ Exhbition at Agial Art Gallery

These houses, structures, buildings, have witnessed the Ottoman Empire, the French mandate, the Independence of the Republic, the exodus of the Palestinians, the Civil War, the Israeli assaults.
They have survived throughout Lebanese history but could not outlive our own times.

But these are not residences. They’re houses, structures, buildings derelict and under threat, slated for destruction: Demolition, abandonment, oblivion. The need to keep memory alive, to bring memories back, to unearth our own houses: To sculpt these sites into real dimensions, tangible, in order to dwell again in these lost places.

Please Note: On Saturdays, the gallery opens from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
