Onomatopoeia

After spending a decade quietly (and obsessively) writing and recording in rented bedrooms, Andrew Armstrong has been consistently releasing and performing songs under the name “we speak in colors” over the last two and a half years.

Before moving to the UAE a year ago and quickly connecting to like-minded artists and thinkers around the country, Andrew was an active and committed participant in the indie/DIY music communities in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Nashville, Tennessee, while also doing small tours in the greater Chicago and Pacific Northwest areas.

We speak in colors’ style has often been likened to the sounds and lyrical tendencies of American indie bands Death Cab for Cutie, Bright Eyes, and Nada Surf. The songs sway smoothly between indie-rock, folk, and pop, while the lyrics read like a metaphorical conversation, placing the listener in the center of a moment; one that often seems to exist in a panic-stricken meltdown.

Armstrong will finish out 2016 with a December house show in Dubai followed by a residency in Beirut to celebrate the release of the latest we speak in colors EP titled “who cares?”
