Main picture from @livelovedouma.

We could go on and on about the beauty of Lebanon, and we’d never be able to stop. There’s always a new area or village or street to discover in our picturesque little country. This time we’re heading North to the village of Douma located in the Batroun district, where beauty is embedded in every stone and every red brick.

1. Beit Douma:

For a night stay, our first recommendation would be this endearing little guesthouse whose exterior and interior design are unparalleled. They serve delicious mana2eesh baked in an old stone stove, scrambled eggs cooked in clay pots, and homemade labne. Everything in this place speaks of an old Lebanese village and Lebanese tradition.

2. Hiking:

Douma has many hidden trails perfect for hiking and enjoying picturesque views. There’s also the Damascus railway road that starts from Douma and reaches Balou’ al Bal’aa.

3. Douma’s old souks:

This souk consists of 125 shops, including the Doumanian mouneh stores that sell zaatar, olive oil, soap, and pickled cucumbers. In addition, they’re well known for their ra7a and cultural museums.

4. Douma’s cinema:

This old cinema opened in 1951, and it was a popular hangout spot back then. Big films were screened there such as Antar & Abla.

5. Al Zahlawi ice-cream:

One of the staples of Douma’s street food scene. You cannot visit this gorgeous village without trying out this delicious ice cream!

6. Saint Nohra Monastery:

Inside this monastery stands a majestic oak tree of 1500 years old that shades the whole premise.
