Minister Of Economy: “Lebanese people will see difference in prices within a week”

During an interview with local newspaper Al Joumhouria, Lebanese Minister of Economy Raoul Nehme announced that citizens can expect to see a difference in prices of basic commodities within a week at most, after the imported goods are transported from the port.

This comes after prices of basic goods and needs reached an all-time high as a result of the skyrocketing currency exchange rate.

Minister Raoul explained that they had “drowned in requests but will fulfill them all”, and promised that the process will become easier and smoother going forward.

On May 21st, PM Hassan Diab gave a televised speech on the occasion of completing 100 days in office, during which he announced that the Central Bank will be intervening to protect the local currency and help regulate prices. Their plan included providing dollars to import essential foods as of May 27th.

This is the equivalent of saying “akid mna3mel shi,” but we hope it pays off in this case.
