Here’s What’s Screening at the 9th Beirut International Women Film Festival
Under the theme “Still Here… Still Telling,” the Beirut International Women Film Festival (BWFF) returns for it’s 9th edition to tell stories of continuity amid regional uncertainty.
This year, the festival takes on a more essential format, focusing on the films themselves and the voices behind them. It places emphasis on storytelling as a form of presence, where cinema becomes a space for expression even in times of war.
Taking place from April 27 to April 30, 2026, the festival is focusing on a streamlined selection of films at Grand Cinemas, Dbayeh. Entrance is free, and it’s open to all!

The 9th edition of BWFF continues to highlight how cinema can hold space for stories that might otherwise go unheard. Even in a reduced format, the festival maintains its focus on connection through film and the voices behind each story. As the festival director Sam Lahoud noted, “to wait for peace before we create would mean choosing silence. And silence is not an option.”
With screenings open to the public, it offers an accessible way to engage with a diverse selection of international and regional films. It also reinforces the role of cultural events in keeping dialogue alive, even during uncertain times.
