Roadie Tuner: Be A Rockstar With The Lebanese Tuner

Whether you’re an amateur performer or a pro rock-star, Roadie Tuner, created by founders Bassam Jalgha and Hassane Slaibi, is your best musical device.

Founded by Bassma Jalgha and Hassane Slaibi, Roadie Tuner effortlessly tunes any stringed instrument to perfection within seconds.

The entrepreneurs met at AUB, where they were both engineering students and members of the same music band. Struggling with tuning his Oud, Jalgha found it inconvenient to have to wait for his teacher to help. This pushed him to co-create Dozan – the parent idea to Roadie Tuner.

With their invention in hand, the two men participated in ‘Stars of Science’, the Arab world’s leading innovation contest, in 2009 and won first prize.

In 2013, the team eventually got accelerated in Hax Hardware Accelerator program tripling their fundraising platform Kickstarter. It was a successful step that led them into getting their current investors at Berytech Fund II. ‘Band industries’ now has a head office in Monte Verde, Lebanon as well as another office in Seattle, Washington USA.

It is three times more accurate in distinguishing frequencies than what human ear hears. Using Bluetooth technology and a mobile app Roadie 1 is fixed on the guitar’s turning knob automatically rotating the pegs. The original device was upgraded into two versions, Roadie 2 and Roadie Bass that are independent standalone tuners and don’t require the app but instead use a vibration sensor. They also include a built-in screen for quickly switching instruments, alternating tunings, and saving custom tunings.

Roadie Tuner has gone international. Popular rockstars adopted the Lebanese tuner as an essential companion in their kit bag. Examples are Roger Fisher (Heart band), Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad band), CJ Pierce (Drowning Pool band). According to Spike Edney (Queen Band),” the concept is fantastic. I actually play 12 string guitar; do you know how bloody difficult it is to keep a 12 string in tune?”

The inventors’ work is still ongoing. They have already released the Roadie Music Recorder app the first audio and voice recording app that can detect the key, tempo, melody of recordings and saving them in files. They can also be edited and shared with friends. Roadie Music Recorder is a milestone for something bigger.
