Journalists are often among those most affected by trauma during war. Beyond the pain of watching their own land and people suffer, prolonged exposure to violence and loss takes a lasting emotional toll, yet they continue showing up and doing the work.
For this reason, Embrace is launching a new initiative offering free and confidential support sessions for journalists impacted by war.
The sessions aim to create a safe space for reflection and emotional processing, acknowledging what many are carrying beyond their work. Many experience emotional exhaustion, while others struggle with anxiety, sleep disruption, and difficulty separating work from personal life. Others may carry feelings of helplessness or burnout from sustained reporting under extreme conditions.
Embrace is offering a supportive space for journalists covering the war to talk openly, share their experiences, and process their trauma while surrounded by others in their field who can relate to their reality. The group sessions are free and confidential, but are currently limited in capacity. Those who would like to join can sign up via this link. For more information, make sure to check out the Embrace website.
Lebanon has also lost journalists in the line of duty over the years, some of whom are Issam Abdallah, Farah Omar, Rabih Maamari, Fatima Ftouni, and Ali Choaib. Our thoughts are with their families, as well as the many journalists that continue to work amid war to document the atrocities happening in Lebanon and beyond.
