INEVITABLE: Oussamah Ghandour Returns to Beirut with a Solo Exhibition at Rebirth Beirut

Oussamah Ghandour left advertising in Dubai, walked away from the corner office and the rooftop pool, and started sketching on the New York subway. That was over a decade ago. Since then, the Beirut-born artist has showcased his work in New York, Venice, London, and Paris, with recent highlights being the MENART Fair Paris 2025, where he was presented by Blue Avenue Gallery in the fair’s “Revealing” sector for emerging and rediscovered talent.

Now he’s bringing it home.

His new solo exhibition INEVITABLE opens September 15 at Rebirth Beirut in Gemmayzeh. The exhibition brings together paintings and works from different points in Ghandour’s practice, including the black cotton works he made in Beirut during wartime and other pieces that feel lighter and more open.

The work reflects a practice that has kept changing with its surroundings. Ghandour doesn’t see INEVITABLE as a clean break between one period and another, but as part of an ongoing process where the work changes as life does.

Ghandour was born in Beirut in 1978 and currently lives and works between Paris, Beirut, and Toronto. He is represented by Blue Avenue Gallery.

The exhibition runs September 16–21, 3–7 PM daily, with an opening night on September 15 from 6–9 PM. Part of the proceeds will go to Rebirth Beirut’s ongoing work to rebuild and revive the city.
