BBC Meets The Lebanese Pablo Escobar

“Just like Europe and the U.S. export terrorism to us, we sell them drugs”

BBC Pop Up is a mobile bureau that travels the world on a quest to find a story to tell about each country. They were inundated with tweets, emails and messages when they announced they were coming to Beirut, and eventually, settled on a very relevant one: hash.

They visited the Bekaa, and interviewed the “Pablo of Lebanon” who casually strolls around with his bazooka in one arm. They also interviewed a General who seems exhausted by this issue, naming hashish as “the most dangerous drug in the world”.

A couple of months after announcing their trip to Lebanon and a lot of hard work, the documentary has finally been put together and published. Enjoy!
