Lebanese Woman Attacked By Rioters Forgives Them

On Tuesday October 29, violent rioters attacked protestors on The Ring bridge and in Martyr’s Square, ripping apart their tents and beating them with sticks.

One of the protestors spoke to the media after the horrifying event, describing the attack and her consequent feelings of pain for the rioters, forgiving them and describing them as one and the same.

Here is a loose translation of what she said, the original video can be found below.

“Their pain is ours and we can’t blame them, these people were raised in a sectarian environment and taught to worship their leaders. They were even educated by the za3eem because there is no public schooling system to fill the gap, so we cannot blame them, that’s how their leaders want it. We cannot hold a grudge against them, we are both one and the same…Let us strengthen the schooling system. That’s why we want a new Lebanon, so we can both coexist together.”

We salute your strength and conviction, you are part of our hope for a better tomorrow.
