An amazing initiative is currently happening in Lebanon! New initiative
Jeyetna has collaborated with the Fe-Male feminist collective to raise awareness about period poverty through a roaming festival.
The festival kicked off last night in Mar Mikhael’s TrainStation, where a documentary on period poverty was being screened and goodie bags of tampons, reusable pads, condoms, tote bags, sanitary pads, menstrual cups, and even cookies were being handed out.
The roaming festival bus will also hand out pamphlets about reproductive health, helping shed light on a topic that is often overlooked and considered a taboo.
This comes at a time when the price of sanitary products have sharply increased by 320%, and the compounded economic and social crises Lebanon is witnessing have pushed a staggering
two thirds of women in Lebanon into period poverty.
