Lebanon To Sign $18M Deal For COVID-19 Vaccine This Week

In an interview with Reuters, Lebanon’s caretaker minister of health Hamad Hassan revealed that the ministry will be signing an $18 million deal this week to acquire the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

Upon signing, the first batch of the vaccine should take 8 weeks to arrive, landing in Lebanon during the first quarter of 2021.

This batch will be used to vaccinate frontline workers, the elderly, and vulnerable people with chronic illnesses, according to government officials.

While this offers a glimpse of hope for Lebanon’s uncontrollable spread of the virus, we can’t help but wonder how they’re paying for the batch and where they’ll be storing it. Hopefully not under the stadiums at Madineh El Riyadiyeh.
