Extended Shows: Lebanese Version Of Chicago Is Stunning Crowds!

Theater lovers will be delighted to hear that Chicago The Musical’s Arabic edition has already created a buzz in the country and captivated audiences with their May 5, 6, and 7 performances at Casino du Liban. After wowing patrons and prompting an extension, we were happy to see that new dates have been added on May 13 and 14 to allow all musical-lovers to get their dose of Chicago in.

Chicago is the longest running musical on Broadway, and its cross-Atlantic edition brings a familiar but authentic Chicago experience to Lebanon’s theaters. The iconic musical is based on a 1926 play of the same name which focuses on the world of crime in jazz age Chicago. It showcases some of the famous criminals from that era, and the ineffectiveness of the local justice system in fighting them. We can clearly see why this has found an audience here.

The Arabic adaptation sees Ilias Christophordis star as Fred, with Youmna Bou Hadir taking on the role of Mama Morton (Mama Dunya in Arabic). They are joined by Fouad Yammine as Amos Hart (Amin Nar), and Cynthia Karam as Roxie Hart (Nancy Nar). Finally, Mirva Kadi plays Velma Kelly (Salma Fehmi) alongside Roy el Khouri as Billy Flynn (Wael Hurr).
