Let’s Support This Lebanese Artist Rebuilding Her Art Studio in South Lebanon

The war has affected many community spaces and small businesses across Lebanon, especially in the south. Places that ones brought people together were reduced to ruin, including beloved art studio and café Abajour.

Once a pottery and art space in Zrariyeh, it stood out as a hub for art, culture, and community. After it was destroyed in the recent attacks on South Lebanon, there’s now a campaign to support Wafaa, the artist who built it from scratch.

Abajour was one of the first dedicated spaces for pottery and ceramics. It brought together artists, creatives, students, and children under one roof to learn and experiment with clay.

It hosted workshops, pottery sessions, and community activities that made it feel like more than an art space. There was also a small café where people gathered, talked, and appreciated art.

Wafaa built everything slowly over the years. Her goal was to create a space in her village where people could create and learn while feeling at home. During the recent war, the studio was destroyed, and that space was lost.

A fundraising campaign is now trying to raise $10,000 to help her recover what was damaged and start rebuilding. Every contribution helps bring Abajour a step closer to coming back.

Supporting Wafaa is more than just simply rebuilding a studio. Abajour’s revival means the return of a beloved space that once brought people together.
