The Metropolis Association, in partnership with the Swiss Magic Lantern announces the second edition of the CineClub “The Magic Lantern” starting October 2011. This club enables children between 8 and 12 years old to discover the joy of big screens.
Over a period of 9 months, between October 2011 and June 2012, children subscribed to The Magic Lantern club will be invited to the cinema once a month to discover different sensations through films that will make them laugh, dream, and sometimes feel a little scared. A week before each screening, members of the club will receive an illustrated journal introducing them to the film. In each session two animators will welcome them and present a show related to the movie.
The Magic lantern starts its season with Alan Parker’s comedy “Bugsy Malone”.
This edition’s program also features animated films that premiered at prestigious festivals such as “Kirikou et la Sorcière” (Kirikou and the Sorceress) by Michel Ocelot and “Le Roi et l’Oiseau” (the King and the Bird) by Paul Grimault as well as classics that marked the history of cinema such as Charlie Chaplin’s “Modern Times”.
