Tramontane: A Touching Lebanese Movie About A Blind Man’s Quest To Discover His True Identity
Showcasing around the world including Cannes, Berlin and the Netherlands, and premiering at Dubai Film Festival, Tramontane has taken the world by storm for the heart warming tale it tells.
Set in a small village in Lebanon, Tramontane is about Rabih, a blind man, who needs to get his passport to travel with his band to France. With his birth certificate lost during Lebanon’s infamous civil war, he sets out on a quest to find out his true identity after suspicious behaviour and shady reactions from his supposed family.
His adventure leads him to different places.
His lack of sight is a powerful symbol throughout the movie for our complex relationship with our country, from the civil war until now. Though the personal and metaphorical perspectives are never directly connected, a strong message is portrayed. Barakat Jabbour, “Rabih”, who is a blind musician in real life, brings the movie to life through his compelling acting and his personal connection with his character, Rabih.

Tramontane will be out on Thursday next week (4th May) at Cinemacity in Beirut Souks. It is not to be missed!
