The Garten Shut Down For Alleged Religious Indecency

Beirut Governor Judge Ziad Chebib has ordered the shut down of popular nightclub The Garten after a controversial set by psychedelic artist Acid Pauli last month in which he mixed a Quoranic verse with music. Judge Chebib’s order claims the nightclub was “promoting material that offends religious beliefs”.

A young woman in attendance told us, “After Satori finished his set, Acid Pauli started his with a strange collage of mixed radio signals, Quoranic verses, and Arabic music lasting around five minutes before he began his actual set”.

In a statement to followers and supporters, the club announced that they would be closed on Saturday night.

This comes only a few months after the shut down of Discotek due to a performance that was deemed inappropriate – the club was allowed to reopen a few weeks later.

Post edit: following a weekend of silence, The Garten’s management released a long statement today, explaining their stance on the matter and suggesting that much of the information spread online has been manipulated to make the situation seem much more sinister than it actually was.
