60 Companies In Lebanon Submitted Requests To Lay Off All Their Employees This Week

During a televised interview, the Lebanese Minister of Labor in the current caretaker government Camille Abu Suleiman revealed that more than 60 companies have submitted requests to the Ministry of Labor to lay off all their employees as a result of the current economic situation. The law stipulates that companies can give 1-month notice periods in such cases, wherein they can no longer sustain operations.



The losses for these companies come after years of low growth and a lack of capital flow from abroad. This comes only weeks after the issuing of an alarming statement revealing that 265 restaurants, cafes, pubs, and other establishments in that sector have closed down over the past two months due to the trying economic situation.
